Dr. Beatrice Holz

Dr. Beatrice Holz retired from Asbury University in Wilmore, KY, where she served as Professor of Music Education & Voice.  In addition to teaching choral and vocal classes, she directed the Asbury College Women’s Choir for almost 30 years.

“Dr. Bea”, as her students called her, received the Bachelor of Music from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, the Master of Music from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, and the Ph.D. in Music from the University of Kentucky.  She has also completed post-graduate courses at the Indiana School of Music, the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and at Asbury Theological Seminary.

Dr. Holz was also commissioned by The Salvation Army’s National Headquarters to direct the vocal ensembles of the Salvation Army Student Fellowship associated with Asbury College and Asbury Theological Seminary.  Her commission as Songster Leader was made a lifetime commission upon her retirement from Asbury University, and she was appointed Songster Leader of the Southern Territorial Songsters in the Fall of 2015.
