Read MoreA lot has happened since my last post. We participated at Bandfest. It is like a preview of the bands and sponsored by Remo (drummers will know that name.) The band looked sharp in their red uniforms. William Flinn, CEO of the Tournament of Roses, a Salvationist and Bandmaster of the Pasadena Tabernacle Corps, took time from his very busy schedule to welcome the band. He gave some advice to our kids. Advice that they can carry throughout their lives and use in any situation. He said, Don't let anyone or any circumstance steal your joy." Great words!

We met up at Biola University with the rest of the Southern Cal participants for a 3.5 hour Rose Parade rehearsal. Great fellowship, good music and I got to see family. Check out our Facebook Page for more video and photos.
Yesterday was Disneyland! It was the worse weather day we've had. Cloudy, rainy (off and on) and very chilly but it was a great day to relax.
This morning they are in rehearsal for the North American Music School that is happening this week. Then the STYB leaves for Tustin Ranch Corps. We are playing with the Tustin Ranch Band for the New Year's Eve service. Please be in prayer for our young people. They are representing the South very well. Y'all should be proud!
Tomorrow starts very, very early. Breakfast is at 4:30am and on the bus 5:15am! More to come and see you tomorrow!
Sunday morning started early for the STYB. Our breakfast was an hour before everyone else. We arrived at Pasadena Tabernacle (The Tab) for a short rehearsal in preparation for the morning service. On my walk to the dining hall I looked up and saw the mountains that surround us. The sun was shining although there was a chill in the air. God is the master creator!
These guys did a great job leading worship. The music was great and the spirit was sweet. Michael Cash played a solo. Yasmeen Ahmad, Tito Osibodu and Bernie Dake lead a season of prayer. David New read scripture and Sarah Munoz gave her testimony. God orchestrated this plan. She talked about the chorus, I'm in His Hands, which tied into the message that the officer prepared.

After service we went to Pasadena City College for rehearsal on the field for Bandfest. The band practiced getting on and off the field, sorted out where to stand...all that fun stuff.
We had a couple of hours free time in Hollywood. A fun time had by all. The "old" guys had a coffee at the local Starbucks ;) We saw Mann's Chinese Theater, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Kodak Theater...
After all that...we arrived back at camp in time for dinner. The delegates found out what band they made and had a rehearsal until snack time!
It's been a couple of packed days and even our leader is tuckered out. Sorry Nick :)

Commissioning weekend is always a demanding event in the calendar of the Territorial Music Department. This year’s extravaganza – “A Cross, The World” was no exception. The Disciples of the Cross session were Ordained and Commissioned as new Lieutenants in The Salvation Army, and music & the creative arts played an important part of every meeting.
